Blackburn Economic Development Zone Business Improvement District relies on the support and funding from the businesses in the area it covers. Its main tasks are carry out maintenance and look after security. Every 5 years a vote takes place so the EDZ can lose its remit to do this work if the businesses decide it’s not doing its job.
The website is the focus for the business zone providing information and giving them the opportunity to feedback comments and complaints. Alongside this is the email newsletter which goes out each month highlighting the work being done and alerting businesses to any problems.
A ballot has recently taken place and despite EDZ having to raise its annual costs, it was successfully voted back in to keep administering the district.
